Exhibition | MS Collegiate Art Faculty Juried Exhibition

Open to all art studio faculty members currently teaching at a Mississippi institution of higher learning, the Mississippi Collegiate Art Faculty Juried Exhibition has become a tradition at LRMA and showcases the creations of 36 artists working in public and private, twos and foursyear colleges and universities throughs out the state of Mississippi. Faculty from the following schools were selected: Belhaven College, Delta State University, Jackson State University, Millsaps College, Mississippi College, Mississippi State University, Mississippi University for Women, Pearl River Community College, Tougaloo College, The University of Mississippi, University of Southern Mississippi, and William Carey University.

This year’s juror was Dr. Graham Boettcher who serves as the William Cary Hulsey Curator of American Art at the Birmingham Museum of Art in Birmingham, AL. Of the 175 submissions by 63 artists, the juror included 60 works by 36 faculty artists.

 

Boettcher’s selections include a wide range of media and techniques including paints ing, drawing, graphic design, video, sculpture, and pottery. By bringing art faculty together, the Museum is excited to provide a forum for the creativity and production of contemporary art and to showcase the diversity of art in Mississippi today. From traditional to cutting edge, this exhibition promises to have something for everyone interested in contemporary art and artists.

 

Four awards selected by the juror including Best in Show and three Awards of Excellence were announced and presented to the artists during the opening reception on Saturday, April 11.
