LRMA Gala 2018
Saturday, December 1, 2018
Excitement is building as, once again, the Museum will soon be transformed into a whimsical backdrop for the premier event of the holiday season in Laurel. The Eastman Memorial Foundation Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Amelia and Louis Crumbley will chair this year’s gala, “El Baile de Miró” which will be held Saturday evening, December 1.
The Crumbleys have chosen the work of artist Joan Miro as their focal point with the décor and menu to have a Spanish feel to support the theme. Joan Miró i Ferrà (April 20,1893 – December 25, 1983) was a Spanish painter, sculptor, and ceramicist born in Barcelona. Earning international acclaim, his work has been interpreted as surrealism, a re-creation of the childlike, and a manifestation of Catalan pride. Miró’s lyrical abstractions and color-filled paintings significantly influenced late 20th-century artists Motherwell, Calder, Gorky, Pollock, Matta, Rothko, and others.
“El Baile de Miró” will feature live and silent auctions, dinner, and dancing. The Live Auction solicitation will be directed by Sandra and Stevie Bateman and the Silent Auction by Christa Alexander. Randy Jackson will head up Decorations and Jan and Gene Harlow will oversee Food & Beverage. The Gala Preview Party will be hosted by the LRMA Guild of Docents and Volunteers on Thursday, November 30 and chaired by Ellen Brown and Becky Brewer.
Fabulous art, exciting trips, and unique jewelry will highlight the Live Auction, while the Silent Auction features dinners and travel opportunities, gifts for ladies and gents, artwork, items for the home, and just in time for Christmas – a category dedicated to children.
The black-tie gala is the single largest fundraiser for LRMA with proceeds benefiting programs and exhibitions.
Tickets to “El Baile de Miró” are $125 each, and invitations will be mailed to LRMA members at the Sponsor ($100) level and above. If you haven’t renewed your membership, or if you want to upgrade to the Sponsor level, contact us at 601.649.6374 or info@LRMA.org, or do so online at www.LRMA.org.
